Security agencies have arrested two alleged operatives with links to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) for reportedly planning attacks in a city, officials said, adding that the suspects were in the advanced stages of preparation.
According to investigators, the two individuals were under surveillance for some time before being apprehended in a coordinated operation. Preliminary interrogation suggests they were in contact with handlers across the border and had received instructions related to potential targets, though authorities have not disclosed specific locations for security reasons.
Officials said the accused were allegedly tasked with carrying out disruptive activities aimed at creating panic and instability. Security agencies recovered incriminating material during the arrests, including communication devices and documents that are being examined for further leads and network linkages.

The arrests are being seen as part of a broader counter-terrorism effort to dismantle modules with suspected foreign links. Intelligence inputs had indicated attempts to revive sleeper cells and recruit local operatives, prompting heightened surveillance and preventive action by law enforcement agencies.
Authorities are now working to identify any additional associates or support networks connected to the suspects. Investigators are also analysing digital evidence to trace the flow of instructions and possible funding channels, which could provide insight into the scale and intent of the alleged plot.
Officials have reiterated that security measures in sensitive areas have been intensified following the arrests. While the immediate threat appears to have been neutralised, agencies remain on high alert as the investigation continues to uncover further details about the suspected network.
