A 32-year-old man, Balwant Gare, was arrested by the Palghar police for allegedly beating his wife, Lata Balwant Gare, to death with a wooden log after a domestic quarrel, officials confirmed on Sunday. The incident occurred in Gomghar village, Mokhada taluka, an area where the couple reportedly had frequent disputes over household matters.
According to the police, the tragic confrontation took place in the early hours of Saturday when another argument erupted between the couple. During the altercation, Balwant allegedly attacked his wife with a wooden log, resulting in her immediate death. The violent incident came to light after the victim’s father lodged a formal complaint with the Mokhada police station.
Following the complaint, the police registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (murder) and promptly arrested the accused. Authorities emphasized that swift action was taken based on the father’s report, reflecting the seriousness of domestic violence cases in the district.
