In a decisive anti-infiltration operation, Indian Army troops eliminated two suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists attempting to cross the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. The encounter, codenamed Operation 'Shivshakti,' unfolded late Tuesday night in the Maldivalan area of the Degwar sector, following precise intelligence inputs from the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police. Alert soldiers on ambush duty detected suspicious movement, leading to a fierce gunfight that lasted several hours.
The terrorists opened fire upon detection, but the Army’s swift response and accurate firepower neutralized the threat, preventing a major security breach. A search operation launched at dawn confirmed the deaths of both infiltrators, with troops recovering three weapons from the site.
The operation, still ongoing, underscores the Army’s vigilance in thwarting cross-border terrorism. The White Knight Corps praised the synergistic efforts of intelligence units and police, which ensured the mission’s success. This encounter follows closely on the heels of another operation in Srinagar, where three terrorists linked to the Pahalgam attack were killed just two days prior.
Authorities remain on high alert, conducting extensive searches to secure the region and prevent further infiltration attempts along the volatile border.
