A 29-year-old man died after allegedly jumping into a drain near Noida's Sector 81 Metro station following an argument with his wife over drinking alcohol. The incident took place on Wednesday and triggered a major rescue operation involving the police, fire department, State Disaster Response Force and National Disaster Response Force. The man's body was recovered at around 6 am on Thursday after several hours of search efforts.
The deceased was identified as Ravi, a resident of Etah who was currently living in Harola in Gautam Buddh Nagar. According to police, Ravi was at the spot with his wife when the couple had an argument over his drinking. His wife told police that following the dispute, Ravi jumped into the drain in anger, prompting an immediate search and rescue operation.
After receiving information about the incident, teams from the Sector 39 police station and fire services reached the location near the metro station. Fire personnel entered the drain to search for Ravi, while police teams coordinated the operation at the site. As the search continued without success, additional rescue agencies were called in to assist with efforts to locate him.

The SDRF and NDRF teams subsequently joined the operation and continued searching the drain for several hours. The difficult rescue effort continued through the night as multiple agencies worked to trace Ravi. The coordinated search eventually led to the recovery of his body at around 6 am on Thursday.
Following the recovery, police sent Ravi's body for a post-mortem examination. Authorities said further action was underway in connection with the incident. Police are also examining the circumstances surrounding the man's death based on the information provided by his wife and other details gathered during the initial investigation.
Sector 39 police station in-charge DP Shukla provided information about the incident. Police have so far described the incident as occurring after the argument between Ravi and his wife over drinking, followed by his alleged jump into the drain. The recovery of the body after an overnight multi-agency operation brought the search to an end, while further proceedings remain underway.
