The Narcotics Control Bureau orchestrated a meticulously planned interdiction operation in the vicinity of the porous India-Myanmar border region, successfully confiscating 7.312 kilograms of premium-grade heroin ingeniously camouflaged within 638 ordinary soap cases, with the contraband estimated to command a street value exceeding Rs 15 crore in the domestic illicit narcotics market.
Law enforcement personnel identified and detained two key operatives in the trafficking chain—Ginkhawmlian and Mangboi Simte, both hailing from Mata village in the Multam area of Churachandpur district, Manipur—following the tactical interception of their Bolero utility vehicle during an intelligence-driven surveillance sweep conducted in coordination with border security forces.
Preliminary interrogations and forensic examinations established that the seized consignment traced its origins to production facilities in Haichin, Myanmar, before being smuggled across international boundaries via clandestine forest trails and rugged terrain in Manipur specifically selected to evade established highway checkpoints, urban monitoring systems, and fortified security outposts.
