A tragic hit-and-run on Hiranandani Bridge in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, claimed the life of 23-year-old Manav Yellappa Kucchikorve and left eight others seriously injured early Wednesday.
A group of 11 dancers from Mumbai’s Dharavi, riding six scooters en route to Lonavala, was struck by a speeding white Fiat Linea around 4:45 AM. The impact threw Manav off the bridge, killing him, while the car dragged another scooter before the driver fled on foot, abandoning the vehicle.
The injured, including Subhan Sheikh, Sameer Mohammad, and others aged 20-25, are hospitalized. Kharghar Police have identified the driver as Vaibhav Dhere, 24, from Pune, arresting him within six hours. He faces charges under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Motor Vehicles Act, with a blood test pending to check for intoxication. A manhunt continues for a second suspect.
