Assam Rifles executed a precision operation in Manipur’s Chandel district, apprehending two cadres of the Myanmar-based United Tribal Volunteers Group. The arrests took place near the Sajik Tampak area, close to the India-Myanmar border, based on actionable intelligence. This strategic intervention disrupted a potential cross-border militant movement, highlighting the vigilance of security forces in the region.
The detainees, identified as members of the United Tribal Volunteers Group, were handed over to Chakpikarong Police for further investigation. The Assam Rifles’ statement emphasized the operation’s success in thwarting illicit activities along the volatile frontier. Such efforts underscore the ongoing challenges of securing India’s borders amid regional instability.
