Mumbai police have seized 6.6 kg of MD (mephedrone), commonly known as ecstasy, valued at over Rs 13 crore, and arrested five individuals in a major anti-narcotics operation in south Mumbai, an official confirmed on Sunday.
The breakthrough followed the arrest of one suspect in March, who was caught with MD worth Rs 4.5 lakh. His interrogation led authorities to the other accused, unraveling a larger drug network.
A coordinated raid by the Anti-Narcotic Cell of Zone 6, RCF police, and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) targeted a premises in south Mumbai, resulting in the recovery of the substantial drug haul.

Four of the arrested individuals are Mumbai residents, while one hails from Navi Mumbai, according to an RCF police station official.
All five face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, with ongoing investigations to uncover the drug supply chain and potential syndicate links, the official added.
