A daring daylight robbery shook Hyderabad’s Chandanagar area on Tuesday when six to seven masked men stormed Khazana Jewellers, opening fire and injuring the deputy manager before escaping with silver jewellery. The brazen heist, which unfolded around 10:35 AM, sent panic through the busy commercial hub.
According to police, the assailants, armed with guns, barged into the store shortly after it opened, threatening staff and demanding access to the safe. When the deputy manager resisted, the robbers fired two shots, one striking him in the leg and another damaging a CCTV camera to cover their tracks. Unable to open the safe, they grabbed silver jewellery on display and fled on motorcycles, leaving the scene in chaos.
The injured deputy manager was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, an employee confirmed. Eyewitnesses described a tense atmosphere as customers and nearby shopkeepers scrambled for safety. “It happened so fast; we heard gunshots and saw people running,” said a local vendor.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty visited the crime scene, overseeing the initial response. Police have launched a manhunt, forming ten special teams to track the suspects. “We are scanning CCTV footage from the area and analyzing clues to identify the routes used by the robbers,” a police official stated. Checkpoints have been set up across the city outskirts to apprehend the culprits.
The incident has raised concerns about rising gun-related crimes in Hyderabad, with locals expressing alarm over the audacity of the attack in broad daylight. Authorities are investigating the robbers’ motives and whether they had prior knowledge of the store’s operations. Statements from employees are being recorded, focusing on the suspects’ appearance, clothing, and language.
While the exact value of the stolen jewellery remains unclear, preliminary reports suggest the haul was limited to silver items due to the robbers’ failure to access the main safe. The investigation continues as police work to bring the perpetrators to justice.
