Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, the owners of the 'Birch by Romeo Lane' nightclub in Goa where a devastating fire claimed 25 lives earlier this month, were photographed at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on December 16, 2025, during their transit to Goa. The brothers, who had been deported from Thailand, arrived in India on an IndiGo flight the previous afternoon and were seen sitting in the airport's waiting area near the gates, accompanied by officials. One brother wore a white hoodie, while the other was dressed in a black sweatshirt, cap, and mask.
Following their arrival in the national capital, the Patiala House Court granted Goa Police a two-day transit remand, allowing the authorities to transport the Luthras to Goa for further legal proceedings. They are expected to be produced before a court in Goa upon landing. The brothers face charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and negligence in connection with the tragic blaze at their Arpora nightclub on December 6, 2025.
The Luthras had fled to Phuket, Thailand, hours after the fire broke out, reportedly while attending a wedding in Delhi. Upon learning of the incident, they allegedly instructed staff to book flights, collected documents, and departed India. They were detained by Thai authorities on December 11 after leaving their hotel and were subsequently deported following the suspension of their passports by Indian authorities.

The fire at 'Birch by Romeo Lane' in north Goa's Arpora village erupted during a crowded event, with videos capturing flames appearing on the ceiling as a dancer performed to the Bollywood song 'Mehbooba Mehbooba'. Preliminary investigations revealed severe safety violations, including no emergency exits, non-functional fire extinguishers, narrow access roads hindering rescue efforts, and operation without proper licences. Four staff members and a third partner, Ajay Gupta, have already been arrested, as authorities continue probing the tragedy that killed primarily staff and several tourists due to suffocation.
