Delhi Police have arrested 33-year-old Ankur, a murder suspect, following a two-month manhunt, an official announced on Sunday.
The apprehension took place on April 4 in Loni, Ghaziabad, marking the end of Ankur’s evasion since January.
Ankur, a resident of Padam Nagar in Sarai Rohilla, was wanted for the fatal stabbing of his neighbor, Lakhan, over a Rs 50,000 loan dispute. The attack, allegedly carried out with his brothers Rohan and Ankit, occurred on the night of January 25-26 after a heated argument. Lakhan succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
While Rohan was arrested earlier, Ankur and Ankit had remained at large until a police team tracked Ankur to Ghaziabad.
During interrogation, Ankur reportedly confessed to the crime, the official stated. A school dropout and rickshaw puller by profession, Ankur’s potential links to other criminal activities are now under scrutiny. The arrest brings partial closure to a case that rattled the local community, with police continuing efforts to locate Ankit.
Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains active as they piece together the full scope of the incident and any additional involvement.
