In a major counter-terrorism breakthrough, Punjab Police dismantled a Pakistan Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI)-backed Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror network, arresting five operatives in Rajasthan’s Tonk and Jaipur districts. The operation, led by the Counter Intelligence unit in Jalandhar and SBS Nagar Police, thwarted planned attacks, including a recent plot targeting a liquor store in SBS Nagar and further strikes intended for Independence Day.
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav revealed that the module was orchestrated by foreign-based handlers Mannu Agwan, Gopi Nawashehria, and Zeeshan Akhtar, acting under the direction of Pakistan-based BKI operative Harwinder Rinda. “This is a significant blow to Pakistan’s ISI-backed terror network,” Yadav stated in a post on X, emphasizing the operation’s success in averting further violence.
Police recovered a hand grenade, a .30 bore pistol, two live cartridges, and two empty shells from the suspects. During a follow-up recovery operation, one accused opened fire on police, sustaining injuries in retaliatory action. The individual is receiving treatment at Civil Hospital, SBS Nagar.
