India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday for a two-day official visit to bolster India-Nepal relations, engaging with Nepal’s top leadership to discuss matters of mutual interest. Landing at Tribhuvan International Airport at approximately 9:00 AM, Misri was invited by his Nepalese counterpart, Amrit Bahadur Rai, for this significant diplomatic engagement.
During his visit, Misri is scheduled to meet President Ramchandra Paudel, Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli, and Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, alongside holding a bilateral meeting with Rai at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Singhdurbar. He will also engage with prominent political leaders, including Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda.”
According to Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discussions will focus on enhancing connectivity, development cooperation, and other bilateral priorities. Sources indicate that a key objective of Misri’s visit is to lay the groundwork for Prime Minister Oli’s anticipated trip to New Delhi around September 16, though an official announcement is pending.
