A 24-year-old Indian woman, Kirandeep Kaur, was allegedly stabbed to death after an attacker entered her home in Hayes, west London, while she was asleep. Her husband, who is also in his twenties, sustained stab injuries during the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment. Authorities have arrested a 44-year-old man in connection with the case, while the victim's family has alleged that the attack was racially motivated. However, police have said there is currently no evidence to classify the incident as a hate crime and that all possible motives remain under investigation.

According to police, the suspect, identified as Daniel Sean James, was arrested after officers found him with injuries reportedly consistent with jumping from a window. He has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article and appeared before Willesden Magistrates' Court. Investigators said inquiries are continuing and that they are keeping an open mind while examining all available evidence surrounding the fatal attack.

Kaur's family has claimed that the assailant entered her bedroom and attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon while she slept. Speaking to media outlets in Punjab, family members described the incident as a racist attack and have urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation. The Metropolitan Police, however, said there is no evidence at this stage to indicate the attack was motivated by hate, although investigators are continuing to examine every possible line of inquiry.

Kirandeep Kaur had reportedly moved to the United Kingdom nearly two years ago on a student visa before later obtaining a work permit. According to reports, her parents sold their farmland in Punjab's Tarn Taran district to finance her education abroad with the hope of creating better opportunities for the family. Following her death, they have appealed to both the Indian government and UK authorities to facilitate the return of her body to India and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

Family members and neighbours described Kaur as a caring mother who had recently given birth. Her brother-in-law said the family had been celebrating the arrival of the newborn and was devastated by the tragedy. A neighbour also remembered her as a friendly and cheerful young woman who appeared delighted with motherhood, expressing shock that such an incident could occur in the community.

The condition of the couple's newborn child has not been disclosed by authorities. The case has drawn attention both in the United Kingdom and India, with investigators continuing to gather evidence to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack. Police have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward as the investigation progresses, while the victim's family continues to seek answers and justice.
