Police have arrested a woman and her alleged partner, a gym trainer, for allegedly conspiring to murder her husband after he discovered their relationship in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The victim, Shashank Kantharia, was stabbed multiple times at his home in Jagriti RWA Society, Vasundhara Sector 1, on October 26. The accused have been identified as Priya Sharma, Shashank’s wife, and Pratap Singh, a trainer at Fitness Headquarters gym. According to police, the alleged attack was planned after Shashank learnt about their relationship.

The stabbing took place at around 5.15 am when Priya was leaving home to go to the gym, police said. Pratap allegedly entered the house with a knife and attacked Shashank multiple times. The injured man raised an alarm, prompting the accused to flee. Police reached the residence after receiving information about the incident and took Shashank to Yashoda Medicity hospital for treatment. His brother subsequently filed a complaint, following which the Indirapuram police registered a case against the two accused.

Investigators said Priya had been exercising at the gym where Pratap worked for around seven to eight months. The two allegedly grew close during this period, and their relationship developed into a romantic one. During questioning, Pratap reportedly told police that he and Priya wanted to marry each other. However, Shashank had discovered their relationship and was preparing to move to another flat after Diwali, according to the police account.

Police allege that Priya and Pratap discussed killing Shashank during a meeting on the morning of October 25, a day before the stabbing. Investigators said the two met during a morning run and allegedly planned the attack. The following morning, Pratap is accused of reaching the couple’s home with a knife while Priya had allegedly left the gate open to facilitate his entry. He then allegedly attacked Shashank before escaping from the scene.

The Indirapuram police have registered a case involving charges related to attempted murder and criminal conspiracy, along with other relevant provisions, based on the complaint lodged by Shashank’s brother. Both Priya and Pratap have been arrested in connection with the case. Police said the knife allegedly used in the attack was recovered based on information provided by the accused. Investigators are examining the circumstances of the stabbing and the alleged roles of both individuals in planning and carrying out the attack.
