Police in Jalandhar have launched a high-intensity investigation into the murder of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) functionary Satwinderpal Singh, alias Lucky Oberoi, whose body was discovered on Friday. Authorities are questioning relatives of the prime suspect, Joga Pholriwal, while exploring multiple angles surrounding the killing.
A postmortem conducted at the Civil Hospital revealed that Oberoi had sustained multiple gunshot injuries. Doctors successfully extracted five bullets—one from the neck, two from the abdomen, and two from the chest—though some projectiles remain lodged in the body. The complex nature of the injuries extended the examination to over two hours.
Investigators are also probing the suspicious disappearance of Oberoi’s housekeeper, whose phone has remained switched off since the incident. CCTV footage reportedly shows the suspected shooter with the missing servant traveling on an Activa scooter and later in a Creta car near Lumma Pind Chowk, prompting police to trace vehicle ownership and connections.

Tracing the Creta’s history revealed a complex paper trail involving a car dealer lodged in Tihar Jail and a short-term loan transaction with Oberoi. Statements from Oberoi’s staff confirmed that the missing servant had taken the car and had been employed with him for around two years, further raising suspicions about his role in the murder.
Police are also investigating potential links to a previously absconding accused involved in a past Rama Mandi murder case. The suspect is believed to have altered his appearance, growing hair and a beard, and has alleged ties to multiple gang-related incidents in Jalandhar.
Preliminary findings indicate that two individuals, dressed in black hoodies, fled the crime scene on a scooter. FIR No. 25 has been registered against Joga Pholriwal and two unidentified persons under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act. Multiple police teams are actively working to track the accused and collect additional evidence.
