In a heart-wrenching tragedy that has stunned the residents of Suremanpur village in Uttar Pradesh’s Bairia area, a one-year-old boy named Kinu was brutally stabbed to death by his father, Rupesh Tiwari, on the night of October 4, 2025. The incident, which occurred under the influence of alcohol, has sparked outrage and sorrow. According to Circle Officer (CO) Mohammad Fahim Qureshi, Rupesh, known for his chronic alcoholism and abusive behavior, attacked his infant son with a sharp-edged weapon, inflicting fatal injuries that tore the child’s jaw. The accused has been arrested, and a case has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The horrific event unfolded on Saturday evening when Rupesh returned home in an inebriated state and began assaulting his wife, Rina Tiwari, as was reportedly his frequent practice. The altercation escalated as Rupesh turned his aggression toward his father, Kamlesh Tiwari, verbally abusing him and threatening his life. Fearing for their safety, Rina and Kamlesh fled to a neighbor’s house, leaving Kinu and their three-year-old daughter, Ananya, at home with Rupesh. It was during this absence that the unthinkable occurred, with Rupesh fatally attacking his defenseless son. Upon their return on Sunday morning, Rina and Kamlesh discovered the gruesome scene, with Kinu’s lifeless body bearing the marks of a savage assault.
Police were promptly informed, and a team rushed to the scene to investigate. The infant’s body was sent for a postmortem to ascertain the full extent of the injuries, which preliminary reports indicate involved severe trauma to the jaw. Based on Rina’s complaint, authorities charged Rupesh under Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), Section 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), Section 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and Section 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The swift arrest of the accused reflects the police’s commitment to addressing this heinous crime, though it offers little solace to a family shattered by loss.

The incident has cast a spotlight on the devastating consequences of alcohol abuse and domestic violence, issues that continue to plague communities across India. Kinu’s death, occurring as he was being rushed for medical treatment, underscores the urgency of intervention in such cases. The fact that Rina had endured repeated abuse from Rupesh highlights a pattern of unchecked behavior that culminated in this tragedy. The presence of the couple’s three-year-old daughter, Ananya, during the incident raises further concerns about the safety and psychological well-being of surviving family members.
As the investigation proceeds, the Suremanpur community mourns the loss of an innocent life and grapples with the shock of such a brutal act within a family. The case has prompted calls for stronger measures to address alcoholism and domestic violence, including better access to counseling and rehabilitation services. For now, the focus remains on supporting Rina and her daughter as they navigate the aftermath of this unthinkable tragedy, while the legal process seeks to deliver justice for young Kinu.
