Telangana police announced the seizure of approximately 750 kg of dry ganja, valued at over Rs 3.81 crore, in Warangal district, marking a significant blow to illegal drug trafficking in the region. Acting on reliable intelligence, a police team intercepted four individuals on September 1 on the outskirts of Chilukamma Nagar forest area in Khanapur mandal, where they were found transporting the contraband. Warangal Police Commissioner Sunpreet Singh confirmed the arrests, noting that the suspects confessed to possessing the ganja and acting under the instructions of other absconding accomplices.
The seized ganja, packed into 23 plastic bags, had been loaded onto a vehicle in Andhra Pradesh. However, on August 28, the suspects, wary of a police checkpoint, abandoned the contraband at a concealed location in Chilukalagutta near Chilukamma Nagar. The police operation successfully recovered the hidden stash, disrupting a major smuggling attempt.
This seizure underscores the Telangana police’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and dismantle illicit networks operating across state borders. The apprehended individuals are under investigation, with authorities actively pursuing the remaining suspects involved in the operation. The case highlights the critical role of intelligence-driven policing in curbing the illegal drug trade in the region.
