The Delhi Police Crime Branch has apprehended 19-year-old Khyam alias Fahim, the primary suspect in a brazen armed robbery at a jewellery shop in Subhash Place, where a salesman was stabbed and valuables worth over ₹50 lakh were stolen. The arrest, announced on Wednesday, marks the culmination of a three-month manhunt for the Mangolpuri resident, who had been evading capture since the crime.
The incident occurred on June 12, when three armed assailants stormed a shop near Kohat Enclave metro station. According to police reports, the perpetrators stabbed the salesman and looted gold and silver jewellery, while accomplices stood guard outside. A case was promptly registered at Subhash Place police station. While other suspects, including Jitender, Vijay Kumar, Vishal Sain, and Shivam, were arrested earlier, Khyam, identified as the individual who stabbed the victim, remained at large until Tuesday, when a tip-off led the Crime Branch to his hideout.
During interrogation, Khyam revealed that financial struggles following his father’s death drove him to crime. A Class 8 dropout working as a parking security guard, he was lured by the promise of quick money and joined the group to plan and execute the heist. The arrest underscores the Delhi Police’s relentless efforts to bring all perpetrators to justice, ensuring closure in a case that shocked the capital’s commercial hub.
