A Delhi court has granted bail to Jyoti alias Kittu, accused of attempting to murder her husband by pouring boiling water mixed with red chili powder on him, as per an order dated July 9, 2025. Additional Sessions Judge Saurabh Kulsreshtha approved the bail, noting that a chargesheet has been filed and the accused is no longer needed for investigation.
The incident, reported at Nangloi police station, involved Jyoti allegedly attacking her husband, fleeing after locking him inside their home, and taking his mobile phone. The chargesheet includes sections 109(1) (attempt to murder) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The court observed that the victim sustained simple injuries, as per the medico-legal report, and imposed conditions to address concerns about potential threats to the victim or witnesses.
Jyoti was released on a bail bond and surety bond of ₹30,000 each, with restrictions barring her from contacting or threatening anyone involved in the case or visiting the victim’s residence or locality. The decision has sparked discussions on domestic violence cases, with the court emphasizing that the imposed conditions ensure the safety of all parties as the trial proceeds.
