In a major breakthrough, the Delhi Police Special Cell arrested 22-year-old Karanbir, a resident of Gurdaspur, Punjab, on July 27, 2025, for his alleged involvement in a grenade attack on Qila Lal Singh Police Station in Batala on April 7. The suspect, linked to the banned Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), a pro-Khalistani terrorist outfit, was also engaged in illegal arms trafficking in the national capital, authorities revealed.
The arrest follows meticulous intelligence-led operations by the Special Cell, targeting BKI’s network in Delhi and Punjab. Karanbir is accused of supplying arms to facilitate terrorist activities, including the Batala attack, which aimed to destabilize law enforcement in the region. A senior police officer stated that the suspect’s apprehension marks a significant step in dismantling BKI’s operations, which have been under scrutiny for promoting separatist violence.
This is the second BKI-linked arrest by the Special Cell in recent months, with another associate detained earlier in a related case. Recovered evidence, including communication records and arms caches, points to a coordinated effort by BKI operatives to expand their influence in northern India. The Delhi Police are intensifying efforts to trace additional suspects and disrupt the group’s supply chain.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities as investigations continue. The case underscores Delhi’s critical role as a hub for counter-terrorism operations, with the Special Cell collaborating with Punjab Police to neutralize further threats.
