A Delhi court on December 12, 2025, remanded three doctors and a religious preacher to 12 days of judicial custody in connection with the November 10 suicide bombing outside the historic Red Fort that claimed 15 lives. Principal District and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna of Patiala House Courts sent Dr Muzammil Ganai, Dr Adeel Rather, Dr Shaheena Saeed, and Maulvi Irfan Ahmed Wagay to jail after their four-day NIA custody expired. The proceedings were conducted under heavy security, with media barred from the courtroom. Separately, a fifth accused, Dr Bilal Naseer Malla—arrested on December 9—was produced before the same judge for voice sample authentication as part of ongoing forensic verification.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has now arrested eight individuals linked to what authorities describe as a highly sophisticated “white-collar” terror module initially uncovered by Jammu and Kashmir Police. The module, allegedly comprising highly educated professionals including several doctors, is accused of planning the attack for over a year and actively recruiting a suicide bomber. The bomber, Dr Umar Un Nabi—a Baramulla-based medical practitioner—detonated an explosive-laden Hyundai i20 outside the Red Fort’s Lahori Gate on November 10, 2025, killing 15 people and injuring dozens in one of the deadliest strikes on the capital in recent years.
According to NIA statements, Dr Bilal Naseer Malla knowingly harboured Umar Un Nabi and provided logistical support while later attempting to destroy evidence. Investigators continue raids across multiple states in coordination with local police to trace remaining conspirators and financial trails. Sources indicate the module operated with extreme secrecy, using encrypted communication and legitimate professional networks to mask its activities.

The case has shocked the nation due to the involvement of highly qualified individuals from the medical fraternity and a religious scholar, raising fresh concerns over radicalisation among educated professionals. With investigations intensifying and forensic analysis underway—including voice samples and digital footprints—the NIA maintains that more arrests are likely as the full extent of the conspiracy emerges.
