A monkey skull was allegedly found concealed inside a passenger’s handbag during a security check at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, officials said. The passenger was scheduled to travel from Delhi to Hyderabad when Central Industrial Security Force personnel detected a suspicious object during the pre-embarkation screening. The discovery prompted security personnel to conduct a detailed inspection of the passenger’s hand baggage.

During the examination, CISF personnel recovered a skull concealed inside the handbag. When questioned by the security officials, the passenger claimed that the skull belonged to a monkey. The object was subsequently secured by authorities for further examination to determine its identity and other relevant details.

Following the recovery, the passenger was handed over to the local police for further investigation. Officials said the matter involves a suspected wildlife specimen and therefore requires examination under applicable laws. The recovery at the airport also prompted authorities to initiate proceedings in accordance with the legal provisions governing the possession and transportation of wildlife-related material.

Officials said proceedings will be initiated under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. The recovered skull has been secured for examination as the investigation continues. Authorities are expected to establish the exact nature and origin of the specimen and determine whether the passenger violated wildlife protection regulations by possessing or attempting to transport it.
