A new intelligence-linked development has emerged following the commercial success of the Bollywood spy thriller Dhurandhar, with sources claiming that the film has drawn the attention of the underworld network known as D-Company. According to sources familiar with the matter, the gang allegedly activated parts of its ground-level network in Mumbai after the release of the film, which features a character bearing a resemblance to fugitive underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim. Authorities have not publicly confirmed any direct connection between the film and subsequent criminal activities.
The Ranveer Singh-starrer, released as a two-part thriller, includes a character named Bade Saheb who is portrayed in a manner that sources say closely resembles Dawood Ibrahim. The depiction has reportedly triggered concern within sections of the underworld network, leading to efforts aimed at countering public perceptions about Dawood's condition. Sources allege that members of the network sought to reinforce the narrative that the fugitive gangster remains active and influential despite years of speculation regarding his health and whereabouts.
According to intelligence inputs cited by sources, recruitment efforts were allegedly delegated to individuals linked to the Shakeel gang, while Pakistan's intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), was purportedly assigned responsibilities related to training and logistical support. Sources further claimed that a known criminal operative was tasked with coordinating aspects of an alleged conspiracy. These assertions remain part of ongoing investigations, and no official charges linked to these specific allegations have been publicly detailed.

Investigators are also examining claims that potential recruits were selected from different parts of Mumbai and allegedly mobilized using local grievances rather than being informed of the broader objectives behind the operation. Sources stated that anger surrounding demolition action against an allegedly illegal structure in Bandra Garib Nagar was used to influence and attract individuals into the network. Authorities are reviewing these claims as part of a wider probe into recruitment and radicalization methods.
The developments come shortly after Delhi Police reportedly foiled a suspected terror plot and uncovered alleged links between criminal networks and external handlers. Security agencies are examining whether recent activities reflect an attempt by D-Company to regain relevance amid what officials describe as a decline in its traditional influence over organized crime and extortion operations. Investigators believe certain groups may be seeking high-profile actions to rebuild their reputation and operational standing.
While several of the claims remain based on intelligence inputs and source-based assessments, security agencies continue to monitor potential threats and investigate suspected links between organized crime syndicates and cross-border networks. Officials maintain that timely arrests and intelligence-led operations have helped disrupt several alleged plots in recent years. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released further details regarding any additional arrests or specific targets connected to the reported conspiracy.
