An 18-year-old bride was shot at during her wedding ceremony in a shocking incident that has left her critically injured and her marriage in jeopardy. The incident took place in Bihar’s Buxar, where Aarti Kumari was on stage with her groom when the attack occurred.
According to reports, the ceremony was underway on Tuesday when a man standing among the guests suddenly opened fire. The bullet struck Aarti in the stomach, triggering panic and chaos at the venue. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for first aid and later referred to the trauma centre in Varanasi due to the seriousness of her injuries.
The accused has been identified as Deenbandhu, a neighbour of the bride and allegedly her former lover. Police sources said this was not the first time he had attempted to disrupt her marriage. Authorities are investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting, and efforts are underway to apprehend him.

The wedding procession had arrived from the Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh but returned soon after the incident. The groom’s family has reportedly refused to proceed with the marriage following the attack. They claimed they were unaware of any past relationship and expressed reluctance to continue the alliance under the current circumstances.
As Aarti battles for her life in hospital, uncertainty now surrounds her future. The incident has sparked outrage locally, with residents condemning the violence and questioning how such an attack could occur in the midst of a public wedding ceremony. Police have assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible.
