The deaths of a 34-year-old man and his four-year-old son at a residence in north Bengaluru’s Chikkabanavara area are being investigated as an alleged double murder, with police suspecting the man’s wife and her alleged lover were involved. The incident was reported from a house on 9th Cross in Gutte Basaveshwar Nagar, where the man, identified as Abhinandan, lived with his wife Harini and their young son. The allegations against the suspects are yet to be established in court.
According to the police investigation cited in the report, a dispute between the couple reportedly began over sleeping arrangements. Harini allegedly assaulted Abhinandan with a ladle during the argument before the couple moved into separate rooms. Police suspect that Harini later contacted Vinay, who is described as her alleged lover, and called him to the house. Investigators believe the two then allegedly attacked Abhinandan and suffocated him.
The investigation took a more serious turn after police determined that the couple’s young son had also died. According to the allegations, the child woke up during the incident and was allegedly suffocated with a pillow. Police are examining the circumstances surrounding both deaths and are trying to establish the sequence of events inside the house. The child’s death has added another dimension to the investigation into what authorities suspect was a planned attack.

Police also suspect that efforts were made to conceal evidence following the alleged killings. Investigators reportedly found indications that blood stains inside the house had been cleaned, allegedly to avoid raising suspicion. Harini was subsequently taken into custody and questioned by police, following which investigators reportedly gathered additional information about the suspected sequence of events and the involvement of the second accused.
Vinay remains at large and police teams are searching for him in and around Herohalli near Kanakapura. Investigators also suspect that CCTV cameras were switched off around the time Vinay allegedly visited the residence. His arrest and questioning are expected to help police establish the circumstances surrounding Abhinandan’s death and determine the exact role allegedly played by the two suspects.
The bodies of Abhinandan and his son were sent for post-mortem examination as part of the investigation and were later taken to the family’s native village. Police are continuing to collect evidence and reconstruct the events that led to the deaths. The allegations reported in the case remain subject to investigation, and further details are expected after Vinay is traced and questioned by authorities.
