A joint operation by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Delhi Police has struck a significant blow against drug trafficking, seizing narcotics valued at Rs 27.4 crore and apprehending five suspects in the Delhi-NCR region. Union Home Minister Amit Shah revealed the breakthrough on Monday, reaffirming the government’s unyielding stance against the drug trade.
Taking to X, Shah wrote, “In line with the Modi government's zero tolerance against drugs, a major narco-network was busted in Delhi-NCR. The NCB and Delhi Police grabbed the gang by its throat and recovered methamphetamine, MDMA and cocaine worth Rs 27.4 crore and arrested five people.” He praised the agencies for their relentless pursuit, adding, “Our hunt against the drug trade continues.”
The haul, comprising methamphetamine, MDMA, and cocaine, underscores a crackdown on a sophisticated syndicate operating in the capital region. While details of the operation remain under wraps, the seizure follows a string of high-profile busts, including Rs 900 crore worth of cocaine nabbed in Delhi last November. Shah’s commendation highlights the Modi administration’s aggressive push for a drug-free India, a mission that has seen over 4,000 kg of narcotics seized nationwide in 2025 alone, per NCB data.
The arrested individuals, whose identities are yet to be disclosed, face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act as investigations probe deeper into the network’s roots. With this latest success, the NCB and Delhi Police cement their roles as frontline warriors in a campaign that Shah vows will press on with no respite for traffickers.
