An 11-year-old girl was critically injured after a speeding autorickshaw allegedly hit her from behind while she was walking along a roadside on Tuesday. The victim, identified as Sriharika, suffered a severe head injury and multiple other injuries in the collision. She was rushed to a private hospital, where she is undergoing emergency treatment, while police have arrested the autorickshaw driver and launched an investigation.
CCTV footage of the incident shows Sriharika stepping out of her house and walking along the side of the road moments before the crash. The autorickshaw can then be seen approaching from behind and striking the girl, causing her to fall to the ground. The collision was captured by a surveillance camera in the area and has provided investigators with visual evidence of the sequence of events leading to the accident.
The impact of the collision also caused a nearby motorcycle to topple over and fall on the injured girl, adding to the severity of the incident. Residents and other people present in the area immediately rushed to the spot and helped Sriharika. She was then taken to a nearby private hospital for emergency medical care after sustaining injuries to her head and other parts of her body.

Police traced the autorickshaw involved in the accident and arrested its driver, identified as Arbaz. The vehicle was also seized as part of the investigation. Officers conducted a drunk-driving test to determine whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, while other circumstances surrounding the collision are also being examined.
A case has been registered in connection with the incident, and police are investigating the speed of the autorickshaw and the driver's actions before the collision. The CCTV footage is expected to play an important role in establishing the exact sequence of events. Authorities have not yet released the result of the drunk-driving test or provided further details about the charges registered against the driver.
Sriharika remains under emergency treatment at the private hospital as the investigation continues. Police are expected to examine available evidence, including the surveillance footage and the seized autorickshaw, to determine responsibility for the crash. The incident has again highlighted concerns over speeding and pedestrian safety on roads in residential areas, particularly where children and other vulnerable road users are present.
