Exit poll projections for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections suggest that the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), led by Chief Minister MK Stalin, is likely to retain power in the state. Multiple survey agencies have indicated a clear advantage for the DMK and its alliance, with seat estimates comfortably crossing the majority mark in the 234-member assembly.
According to several exit polls, the DMK-led alliance is projected to win between 120 and 168 seats depending on the survey agency. Peoples Pulse has estimated a range of 125 to 145 seats for the DMK and its partners, while Peoples Insight predicts a slightly lower but still strong tally of 120 to 140 seats. Another survey, Praja Poll, has projected an even higher range of 148 to 168 seats, reinforcing expectations of a continued DMK government.
The opposition All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and its allies are expected to trail behind, with exit polls suggesting a combined seat share between 60 and 81 seats. Peoples Pulse has forecast 65 to 80 seats, Peoples Insight estimates 60 to 70 seats, and Praja Poll places the alliance in the range of 61 to 81 seats. These projections indicate that the opposition may not be able to mount a strong challenge to the ruling coalition’s dominance.

A key development in this election is the entry of actor Vijay’s newly formed political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which is contesting its first assembly election. Exit polls suggest that TVK could emerge as a notable new force, with projections ranging widely from 1 to 17 seats depending on the agency. While some surveys estimate up to 17 seats, others suggest a more modest performance of 1 to 9 seats.
Analysts say that even a limited seat share for TVK could still influence the overall political balance in Tamil Nadu by affecting vote distribution, particularly in closely contested constituencies. The party’s debut has been closely watched due to Vijay’s popularity in the state’s film industry and his ability to attract younger voters.
With Tamil Nadu’s 234-seat assembly requiring 118 seats for a majority, most exit polls indicate that the DMK-led alliance is comfortably positioned to cross the threshold. However, final results will determine whether these projections translate into actual outcomes and how significantly new entrants like TVK reshape the state’s political landscape.
