Samsung Electronics has reduced its workforce in the United States as the company shifts its consumer electronics headquarters from New Jersey to Texas. The job cuts have affected employees across divisions including display, mobile phones and other consumer electronics operations, with the majority of impacted roles linked to the headquarters relocation. Samsung Electronics America (SEA), which manages the company's consumer electronics business in the US, confirmed that 739 positions at its Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey office have been affected as part of the headquarters move.

The company clarified that Samsung Electronics America does not include its semiconductor business, which operates separately. The company said most employees affected by the relocation were offered the option to move to Texas as part of the transition. However, some workers who were unable or unwilling to relocate have lost their jobs following the restructuring process. Samsung is shifting its consumer electronics headquarters to Texas as part of a broader effort to consolidate operations and strengthen coordination across its US business.

In addition to the New Jersey job cuts, around 100 employees at Samsung's Plano, Texas office have also been affected, according to a person familiar with the layoffs. The affected workers included employees from Samsung's mobile division, the source said. The individual requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter.

Samsung has not disclosed a complete figure for total job losses across Samsung Electronics America.
