Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy triggered a fierce political controversy in the state Assembly by issuing a stark warning to opponents questioning his government's commitment to Telangana and its farmers, stating he would "cut their tongues" in response to criticism from former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
During the heated exchange, Reddy escalated his remarks, declaring that while critics threatened to "skin" his administration, his side would go further by severing tongues for disloyal comments. He challenged the Assembly to expunge his words from records, asserting that the statement was intended to resonate directly with the public, amid accusations of using unparliamentary language against BRS leaders KT Rama Rao and T Harish Rao.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) condemned Reddy's conduct as a deliberate display of arrogance and intolerance, accusing him of crossing democratic boundaries and exposing the Congress party's lack of dignity. The national BJP unit highlighted the incident as reflective of broader institutional contempt, while state president Ramchander Rao warned that such language was influencing negative discourse nationwide and setting a poor precedent.

BRS leader Dasoju Sravan Kumar launched a scathing attack, labeling Reddy a "psychopathic" and "cheap minister" blinded by power, and appealed directly to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for intervention. Kumar described the Assembly proceedings as undemocratic and unconstitutional, urging disciplinary action against the Chief Minister for reducing the House to mockery.
In defense, Congress spokesperson Sama Ram Mohan Reddy countered that critics should reflect on their own derogatory language outside the House, asserting that the BRS had no moral standing to object after their alleged betrayal of Telangana interests was exposed with evidence during the session.
