Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Assam later this week to participate in key government programmes, even as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prepares to host a large-scale youth outreach event in the state capital, officials said on Tuesday.
According to sources, PM Modi will arrive in Guwahati on Friday to attend a government function focused on development initiatives in Assam. During the visit, he is expected to review ongoing infrastructure and welfare projects and meet with local representatives and officials to assess progress.
On Saturday, the Prime Minister will travel to Silchar in southern Assam’s Barak Valley to participate in another official programme highlighting the Centre’s continued emphasis on regional growth, infrastructure development, and stability in the Northeast.

A day later, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Guwahati to address a major youth conference organised by the BJP. Party sources estimate that nearly one lakh young participants from across Assam are expected to attend, making it one of the largest youth mobilisation events held by the party in the region.
The conference aims to engage young voters, encourage their participation in public life, and highlight the government’s development agenda for Assam and the wider Northeast. Attendees will include students, first-time voters, young professionals, and entrepreneurs, with the event also showcasing employment opportunities, skill development programmes, and infrastructure projects. Senior BJP leaders, state ministers, and party functionaries are expected to participate.
Political analysts view the visits by PM Modi and HM Shah as part of a broader BJP strategy in the Northeast, focusing on youth engagement and strengthening the party’s organisational presence in Assam ahead of upcoming elections. The outreach efforts underscore the party’s aim to connect government initiatives with younger demographics while consolidating support across the state.
