Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said India’s political stability, policy continuity and ongoing reforms have positioned the country as a “bright spot” of growth and hope amid global economic uncertainties. Addressing the Economic Times World Leaders Forum, Mr Modi said his government remained committed to reforms across sectors and was taking several measures to maintain the country’s growth momentum. Mr Modi said India was continuing to push ahead with structural reforms while maintaining stability in governance and policy. He argued that the combination of political continuity and a clear reform agenda was strengthening confidence in the Indian economy.
“India continues to take several steps to ensure continued growth momentum. India is pushing ahead with reforms across sectors and reforms are our commitment,” he said during his address. The Prime Minister also highlighted the challenges facing the global economy, saying several countries were dealing with concerns surrounding growth and uncertainty. He said resources were increasingly being “weaponised”, adding to the difficulties confronting the international economic environment. Against this backdrop, he said India was being viewed internationally as a source of growth and optimism.
Mr Modi said the NDA government had a clear roadmap for implementing reforms, with governance remaining a central focus of its approach. He said the government was working to create conditions that encourage higher production and investment. “Our government is rewarding higher production with incentives,” he said, referring to policies aimed at encouraging manufacturing and economic activity. The Prime Minister's comments come as the government continues to emphasise reforms, investment and domestic production as key components of its economic strategy.

The administration has promoted measures intended to strengthen manufacturing capacity, attract investment and improve the broader business environment. Modi said the government’s reform approach was intended to sustain growth while improving governance and creating greater economic opportunities. Mr Modi also criticised previous governments over their approach to economic policy and welfare. He alleged that earlier regimes had followed a policy of keeping people in scarcity so that citizens remained dependent on the government even for basic necessities.
His remarks reflected his broader argument that governance should focus on expanding production, opportunity and access rather than maintaining systems that leave people dependent on state support. The Prime Minister's address placed political stability and policy continuity at the centre of his government's economic narrative. He said India's ability to maintain reforms while providing a predictable policy environment was helping the country stand out at a time when the global economy faces multiple challenges.
By describing India as a “bright spot of growth and hope”, Modi sought to underline the government's confidence in the country's economic prospects and its stated commitment to sustaining the growth trajectory through continued reforms.
