Hospitality giant OYO's parent company, Oravel Stays, is rebranding to Prism to serve as the overarching entity for its expanding global operations. This move, detailed in a letter from founder and Chairman Ritesh Agarwal to shareholders, aims to streamline the company's diverse portfolio under a single umbrella while maintaining individual brand identities. Founded in 2012 as a budget hotel aggregator, OYO has grown into a travel tech powerhouse serving over 100 million customers across 35 countries, with recent expansions into premium segments fueling its IPO ambitions.
Agarwal explained that Prism will unify businesses without diluting unique offerings, enhancing efficiency and communication. The iconic OYO brand will continue representing budget and midscale travel, while Prism oversees premium hospitality, extended-stay options, celebration venues, luxury getaways, and experiential concepts. The name emerged from a global public competition with over 6,000 submissions, symbolizing the company's multifaceted growth.
OYO's portfolio includes hotel brands like OYO, Motel 6, Townhouse, Sunday, and Palette. In vacation homes, it operates Belvilla, DanCenter, CheckMyGuest, and Studio Prestige. Extended-stay offerings feature Studio 6, acquired via U.S.-based G6 Hospitality, alongside workspaces through Innov8 and celebration spaces via Weddingz.in.
