OnePlus has announced a major global restructuring that will see the company wind down operations in North America and Europe while continuing to focus on key markets such as India. The decision marks one of the biggest strategic changes in the smartphone brand's history, with the OnePlus 15 set to be the final device launched in the United States and Europe. Despite concerns about its future in other regions, the company has stated that its India business will continue without disruption.
According to OnePlus, India remains one of its most important global markets, and customers in the country can expect regular product launches, software updates and after-sales support to continue. The company said its existing roadmap for India remains unchanged, with recently introduced devices and upcoming products still scheduled for launch. It added that local operations will continue as normal despite the restructuring taking place in Western markets.
A key part of the transition involves replacing OxygenOS with Oppo's ColorOS 17 on eligible OnePlus smartphones after the rollout of Android 17 later this year. The software migration will be optional for supported devices. OnePlus said the move is intended to unify software development with parent company Oppo, enabling faster update cycles, improved software quality and more efficient use of shared research and development resources across both brands.

The company also assured existing OnePlus users that customer support will continue even in regions where new products are no longer being introduced. Software updates, security patches, warranty services and after-sales support will remain available for existing devices. Customer service channels will continue to operate, and the company said it will honour all applicable warranty and consumer protection commitments. Similar assurances have been extended to users in India.
While OnePlus has not disclosed a detailed reason for the restructuring, it described the decision as part of a proactive strategy aimed at improving operational efficiency and better aligning resources within Oppo's global ecosystem. The company maintained that the changes are intended to strengthen long-term product development and streamline operations rather than signal a complete withdrawal from customer support in affected markets.
Industry reports suggest the restructuring comes amid slowing growth in several international smartphone markets, rising memory and component costs, geopolitical challenges in the United States and ongoing legal disputes involving Apple. Although the company has not officially confirmed these factors, the latest announcement signals a significant shift in OnePlus' global strategy, with India expected to remain one of the brand's primary markets for future smartphones, software updates and customer services.
