Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei has reiterated Tehran's support for Lebanon's Hezbollah, describing the group's resistance against Israel as a strategic priority for the Islamic Republic. In a message posted on X and addressed to Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem and the group's fighters, Khamenei said there was "no path forward except jihad and resistance" against the United States and Israel. His remarks came in response to a letter from Hezbollah pledging allegiance to Iran's Islamic Republic.

In his statement, Khamenei asserted that any resolution to Iran's conflict with the United States should include a complete and unconditional end to Israeli military operations in Lebanon. He described Hezbollah's role as central to what he called the resistance against Israeli actions and said the group's continued efforts had become an inspiration for those seeking freedom from what he termed global oppression. The message reaffirmed Iran's long-standing political and ideological support for Hezbollah.

Khamenei also paid tribute to Hezbollah members, including former Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, referring to their sacrifices as instrumental in strengthening the organisation. He claimed the group's resilience had transformed it from a small movement into a significant force in the region. The Iranian leader further stated that defending Hezbollah remains a "strategic mandate" for Iran, reflecting the policy followed under the leadership of his predecessor, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
