Samaira Kapur (20) and Kiaan Raj Kapur (15), children of Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor, filed a lawsuit in the Delhi High Court, claiming a one-fifth share of their late father Sunjay Kapur’s ₹30,000-crore estate. The suit, which also seeks an injunction to prevent the transfer or disposal of the estate’s assets, alleges that a will presented by Sunjay’s third wife, Priya Kapur, on July 30 was forged and emerged under suspicious circumstances.
Sunjay Kapur, former chairperson of Sona Comstar, passed away on June 12, 2025, at age 53 from a heart attack while playing polo in London. The petitioners, represented by their mother, Karisma Kapoor, contend that Priya Kapur never disclosed the existence of the alleged will—dated March 21—during prior communications.
The suit claims the document was concealed for over seven weeks following Sunjay’s death, with Priya previously asserting no such will existed. “The document emerged under suspicious circumstances, and neither a copy nor its contents were shared with the plaintiffs or their mother,” the plea stated, raising doubts about its authenticity.
The lawsuit names Priya Kapur, her six-year-old son with Sunjay, Azarius S. Kapur, Sunjay’s mother Rani Kapur, and the will’s executor, Shradha Suri Marwah, as defendants. It further alleges that Rani Kapur was coerced into signing documents under duress, amid tensions surrounding the Sona Group empire. On July 25, Rani Kapur had requested the Sona Comstar board to defer its Annual General Meeting, but the meeting proceeded, appointing Priya as a non-executive director.

Sunjay Kapur was married three times: first to fashion designer Nandita Mahtani (1996–2000), then to Karisma Kapoor (2003–2016), with whom he had Samaira and Kiaan, and finally to Priya Sachdev in 2017, with whom he had Azarius. The plaintiffs argue that the sequence of events surrounding the will’s revelation, coupled with the lack of prior disclosure, suggests it was fabricated in collusion with the executor and others.
As the legal battle unfolds, the case highlights contentious disputes over one of India’s largest business estates, raising questions about transparency and inheritance rights within the Kapur family.
