JSW Motors Limited, the new energy vehicle arm of the JSW Group, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tata Indian Institute of Skills (Tata IIS) to develop a skilled workforce for its upcoming greenfield electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
The agreement, finalized in Mumbai on Thursday, February 26, 2026, focuses on creating a structured technical talent pipeline aligned with the plant's commissioning timeline. It includes a customized curriculum co-developed by JSW Motors and Tata IIS, tailored specifically to the company's needs in advanced manufacturing and EV production. Key training areas encompass EV systems, battery technologies, automation, welding, CNC operations, and other modern manufacturing processes essential for high-quality output.
This partnership aims to build a future-ready skilling ecosystem that extends from shop-floor roles to the broader manufacturing value chain. JSW Motors will retain oversight on hiring decisions and curriculum validation to ensure the programme meets its precise operational requirements. The initiative also builds on existing collaborations between the JSW Foundation and Tata IIS in broader skill development efforts across sectors.

The MoU supports JSW Motors' ambitious entry into India's growing EV market, where the company is establishing its maiden passenger vehicle plant at Bidkin in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The facility, part of a larger automotive hub spanning hundreds of acres, is designed for phased expansion with an initial capacity targeting hundreds of thousands of units annually. The project aligns with the group's multi-billion-dollar investments in new energy vehicles, including technology partnerships for EV design and components.
By prioritizing workforce readiness through specialized training, JSW Motors seeks to address skill gaps in the rapidly evolving EV sector, contributing to India's push for sustainable mobility and local manufacturing excellence. The collaboration underscores cross-industry efforts to foster talent for emerging technologies, with both parties emphasizing long-term employability and industry alignment. Officials have expressed optimism that this step will enable smooth ramp-up of operations once the plant becomes operational.
