A foreign national travelling from Mumbai to Delhi on the Golden Temple Express died after he was taken into custody by railway authorities following an altercation with passengers and an alleged fire-extinguisher incident. The man was detained after railway personnel intervened when he was reportedly involved in an argument inside the train's general coach. He later became unconscious while being questioned at the Railway Protection Force (RPF) post in Surat and was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The incident occurred while the Golden Temple Express was travelling from Mumbai's Bandra Terminus towards Delhi. According to the authorities, the RPF received information that the foreign national was arguing with passengers in the general coach and creating a disturbance. RPF personnel reached the coach after receiving the information and attempted to intervene. Officials reportedly tried to communicate with the man in English and calm the situation, but he allegedly became more aggressive.
The situation escalated when the foreign national allegedly picked up a fire extinguisher and sprayed it towards passengers inside the coach. The incident caused panic and anger among some of the passengers, who confronted the man. According to the authorities, some passengers assaulted him during the confrontation before railway personnel intervened. The circumstances surrounding the altercation and the alleged assault are expected to be examined as part of the inquiry into the incident.

When the train reached Surat, railway police intervened and subdued the man. He was subsequently taken to the RPF post for questioning. Railway personnel immediately arranged for him to be taken to a hospital for medical attention. The man was rushed to a hospital in Surat after losing consciousness at the RPF post. Doctors examined him but declared him dead. The circumstances leading to his death have not been established in the information available, and the sequence of events from the confrontation inside the train to his death is expected to be examined by the authorities.
The death has raised questions about what happened after he was taken into custody and whether any injuries sustained during the incident contributed to his condition. Authorities are expected to investigate the incident, including the circumstances of the initial altercation, the fire-extinguisher episode, the reported assault by passengers and the man's subsequent medical emergency. Statements from passengers, railway personnel and other witnesses could form part of the inquiry. The authorities may also examine available railway surveillance footage and other evidence to establish the sequence of events.
The incident has drawn attention because the foreign national died only hours after being detained by railway authorities. While the available account establishes that he became unconscious during questioning and was subsequently taken to hospital, the precise cause of death has not been stated. A detailed investigation and medical examination will be necessary to establish the circumstances surrounding his death and determine what occurred between the disturbance on the train and the medical emergency at the RPF post.
