Delhi woke up to light showers on Sunday morning, bringing a brief change in weather conditions across several parts of the national capital. Residents at places including Kartavya Path experienced rainfall during the early hours, while the weather remained relatively pleasant. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported light rain in isolated parts of the city, with mist also observed in some areas. The showers came after rainfall was recorded at several locations across Delhi during the previous 24 hours.
The Safdarjung area reported mist along with a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius at around 8 am, according to the weather department. The Ridge area also experienced a light thunderstorm accompanied by rain and mist, with the temperature recorded at 26 degrees Celsius at around 7 am. The combination of rain, cloud cover and mist provided some relief from the warmer conditions that had prevailed in the capital in recent days.
Over the previous 24 hours, Delhi recorded very light to light rainfall at many places, while moderate rain was reported at isolated locations. The rainfall was accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in some areas. Minimum temperatures across the capital remained between 23 and 26 degrees Celsius, while maximum temperatures settled between 34 and 35 degrees Celsius. The rainfall pattern varied considerably across different monitoring stations in and around the city.

IMD data recorded until 8:30 am showed that Pusa received the highest cumulative rainfall among the listed stations, recording 16.5 mm. The Ridge recorded 0.2 mm, while Faridabad received 1.0 mm during the period. The figures indicate that rainfall was unevenly distributed across the wider Delhi region, with some areas receiving substantially more precipitation than others.
The wet conditions were not limited to Delhi, with several parts of the country receiving significant rainfall. Very heavy rain was recorded over Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, East Uttar Pradesh, West Uttar Pradesh and East Madhya Pradesh. Heavy rainfall was also reported from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Assam and Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh and Odisha. The weather department has forecast isolated heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand between August 22 and 28.
The IMD has also forecast fairly widespread rainfall over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim between August 22 and 28. Jharkhand is expected to experience widespread rainfall between August 23 and 28, while Bihar is likely to see similar conditions between August 24 and 26. The continuing monsoon activity could bring further showers and thunderstorms across several regions, while Delhi may also experience additional rainfall in the coming days.
