China has developed an advanced electromagnetic aircraft launch system (EMALS) capable of both launching and halting fighter jets on its aircraft carriers, marking a significant technological milestone in the country’s naval capabilities. The system, modeled on similar technology used by the United States, allows for more precise control, higher launch speeds, and safer recovery of aircraft at sea.
Unlike traditional steam catapults, China’s electromagnetic system uses linear motors to generate magnetic fields that accelerate aircraft along the flight deck.
