Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja Group’s flagship and India’s top supplier of logistics vehicles to the Indian Army, has clinched multiple defence orders worth over Rs 700 crore, the company announced Friday.
The contracts, secured by its defence arm, will see a fleet of specialized vehicles—including the Stallion 4x4, Stallion 6x6, Short Chassis Bus, and Mobility System Travelling Platform—delivered to meet the Army’s troop transport, logistics, and Close-in Weapon Systems (CIWS) needs.
The vehicles, designed for rugged reliability and off-road prowess, are tailored to tackle India’s toughest terrains, reinforcing Ashok Leyland’s decades-long legacy in military mobility.
“We’re proud to deepen our partnership with the armed forces,” said MD & CEO Shenu Agarwal, hailing the win as a testament to the firm’s leadership in defence solutions and its role in India’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ push for self-reliance. The orders follow a Rs 800 crore deal in 2023 for Field Artillery Tractors and Gun Towing Vehicles, underscoring a steady defence growth streak.
With a portfolio spanning 4x4 to 12x12 configurations, Ashok Leyland’s indigenously developed platforms have been a backbone of Army logistics since the 1999 Kargil conflict. The latest haul, detailed in a company statement, aligns with rising demand for advanced mobility amid heightened border security needs.
Deliveries are slated over the next year, cementing the Chennai-based giant’s status as a linchpin in India’s military might.
