Actor and filmmaker Aamir Khan is set to host a special celebration on Saturday, June 13, in Mumbai to mark 25 years of his landmark film Lagaan and the journey of Aamir Khan Productions. The event will be held at Taj Lands End and is expected to bring together members of the film’s original cast and crew, along with several industry colleagues associated with the production house over the past two decades.
The gathering is being positioned as a major reunion of creative collaborators, with invitations extended to actors, filmmakers, writers, producers, and technicians who have worked with Aamir Khan Productions since its inception. Several members of the Lagaan team are also expected to attend the commemorative event, making it a nostalgic celebration of one of Indian cinema’s most influential films.
Released on June 15, 2001, Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker and produced by Aamir, emerged as a defining moment in Indian cinema. The period sports drama received widespread critical acclaim both domestically and internationally and went on to earn a nomination for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards, becoming only the third Indian film to achieve the honour.
