Belagavi police have introduced a single-window system for organisers of Ganesh mandals to obtain permissions required for public Ganeshotsav celebrations. The facility was opened on August 31 and is intended to simplify the process by allowing organisers to approach a common point for approvals instead of dealing separately with different authorities. The initiative comes ahead of the festival and is aimed at ensuring that arrangements for public celebrations, processions and installations are completed in a coordinated manner.

The single-window facility will be available to Ganesh mandals between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Organisers can approach the designated centres at the police stations concerned to seek the permissions required for their celebrations. The system is expected to reduce administrative difficulties for mandal committees and provide them with clearer guidance on the requirements that need to be fulfilled before installing public Ganesh idols and conducting related activities.

The move is part of preparations by the authorities to manage the large-scale celebrations in Belagavi. Public Ganesh festivals involve the installation of idols, decorations, processions and immersion activities, requiring coordination between organisers and multiple government departments. A similar single-window arrangement has previously been used in Belagavi to bring different permissions together and make the approval process easier for Ganeshotsav mandals. 

The arrangement is also intended to help authorities maintain better coordination with organisers on matters related to public safety and the orderly conduct of celebrations. Organisers will still be required to comply with the conditions and regulations applicable to public celebrations and obtain the necessary approvals before proceeding with their plans.
