In a deeply personal revelation, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan shared how a single dip in the Ganga 25 years ago transformed him from a non-vegetarian to a lifelong vegetarian, crediting the river’s divine energy for a profound inner shift. Speaking at the inauguration of a ₹60-crore, 10-storey satram in Kashi, he declared: “After bathing in the Ganga, my life changed so much that I adopted vegetarianism.”
The new lodging facility, built by the Sri Kasi Nattukkottai Nagara Satram Managing Society, boasts 140 rooms and 76 solar lamps (worth ₹1.5 crore), saving ₹25 lakh annually in energy costs. Radhakrishnan praised the Nagarathar community for their faith-driven philanthropy, noting the satram as a bridge between Tamil Nadu and Kashi — a bond strengthened by Kashi Tamil Sangamam and the return of Goddess Annapurni’s stolen idol from Canada in 2021 under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership.

“This transformation of Kashi — from 25 years ago to today — is possible only because of PM Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath,” he asserted. The Vice President hailed the satram, established in 1863 to aid Tamil pilgrims, as a symbol of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat, fostering cultural unity and spiritual continuity. He urged youth to visit Kashi, preserving the centuries-old Tamil-Kashi connect of scholars, poets, and devotees.
After the event, Radhakrishnan offered prayers at Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Annapurni Amman Mandir, seeking blessings for national peace and prosperity. His journey — from a personal epiphany in the Ganga to championing Kashi’s renaissance — mirrors the city’s own spiritual and physical rebirth under visionary leadership.
