Speaking at the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2026, Putin said India has emerged as one of the world's leading information technology hubs and continues to play a significant role in the global digital economy.
Addressing delegates at the forum, Putin noted that India accounts for a substantial share of the global software market and has built a strong reputation for producing highly skilled professionals. He said Indian engineers, programmers, and technology experts have earned worldwide recognition through their expertise, education, and contributions to technological innovation across industries.
Putin also praised India's educational standards and talent pool, stating that the country's workforce is known for its competence and technical abilities. Referring to India as a key partner, he emphasized that the achievements of Indian professionals in coding and software development reflect the strength of the nation's human capital and its growing importance in the global technology landscape.

He said stronger growth projections for BRICS nations are making them increasingly attractive destinations for investment, production, and trade while reinforcing the shift of economic activity toward emerging markets such as India.
