Raksha Bandhan is traditionally associated with family gatherings, the tying of rakhi and the exchange of sweets and gifts. For those looking to prepare something at home instead of buying mithai, chef Kunal Kapur has shared a simple peanut butter laddu recipe that combines nuts, coconut and peanut butter. The recipe offers a quick twist on a traditional sweet and can be prepared with a handful of readily available ingredients.
Kapur shared the recipe on Instagram as part of his Raksha Bandhan-themed food content. Describing it as a twist on mithai for peanut-butter lovers, he suggested the laddus as a homemade treat for siblings. The preparation requires dried desiccated coconut, chopped cashews, sweetened peanut butter, almonds, pistachios and powdered biscuits. Those who prefer a less sweet version can use unsweetened peanut butter instead.
To prepare the laddus, begin by adding the dried desiccated coconut, chopped cashews and peanut butter to a wide pan. The ingredients should be folded together thoroughly with a spatula so that the coconut and cashews are evenly coated with the peanut butter. Once the mixture has been combined, chopped almonds and pistachios are added to provide additional texture and a nutty flavour.

The mixture is then worked together by hand until it reaches a crumbly consistency that can be shaped. Take small portions of the mixture and roll them between your hands to form balls. The balls are subsequently coated with powdered biscuits, which helps give the finished laddus their distinctive outer layer. After coating, each portion can be shaped again into a neat, round laddu.
The prepared laddus can be transferred to a serving plate and finished with chopped pistachios or another preferred nut. Since the recipe involves no complicated cooking process and uses a limited number of ingredients, it can be prepared relatively quickly for a Raksha Bandhan gathering. The combination of peanut butter, coconut and nuts also gives the traditional Indian sweet a contemporary flavour.
The peanut butter laddu recipe is among the easy homemade options that can add a personal touch to festive celebrations. While the recipe has been described as a healthier alternative, its nutritional value will depend on the ingredients and quantities used, particularly the type of peanut butter and biscuits. The recipe is based on content shared by Kapur on social media and is intended as a festive cooking idea rather than dietary or medical advice.
