A US Navy Blue Angels demonstration jet flew unusually low over Pensacola Beach during a public event on Wednesday, sending beach umbrellas, tents and chairs airborne and prompting an official safety review by the military flight demonstration squadron. The incident occurred during the annual "Breakfast with the Blues" event and quickly gained widespread attention after videos shared on social media captured the aircraft passing close to the shoreline, startling spectators gathered on the beach.

Footage of the incident showed the fighter jet making a low-altitude flyby along the coastline before the powerful wake turbulence and downforce generated by the aircraft lifted beach equipment into the air. Several umbrellas, chairs and tents were seen tumbling across the sand as beachgoers rushed for cover. While no injuries were immediately reported, the dramatic scenes sparked concerns over the aircraft's proximity to the crowd and adherence to established flight safety procedures.

The Blue Angels later acknowledged that the aircraft involved had flown below its standard arrival profile during the manoeuvre. Ashley Korn, who was attending the event, told local media that she had never witnessed such a low pass despite visiting the event for several years. She said the aircraft appeared so close that she initially feared it might crash, although she also described the display as remarkable. Similar reactions were shared online as videos of the incident rapidly circulated across social media platforms.

Despite the excitement generated by the dramatic flyby, the Blue Angels stressed that public safety remains its highest priority. The squadron announced that team leadership has initiated a comprehensive review of the incident to ensure future demonstrations fully comply with US Navy and Federal Aviation Administration safety standards. The review will examine operational procedures and determine whether additional measures are necessary to prevent similar incidents.
