X, the Elon Musk-led social media platform, has rolled out a major redesign of its Android application, introducing a rebuilt interface, improved performance and enhanced reliability. The updated version of the X for Android app is now available for download through the Google Play Store, following more than a year of development focused on improving the overall user experience.
X Head of Product Nikita Bier announced that the revamped Android app has been rebuilt from the ground up, allowing the company to introduce new features more quickly in the future. According to the company, the redesigned app offers faster loading, smoother scrolling and improved notifications compared with the previous version.
The updated application includes several visual and functional changes, including a redesigned bottom navigation dock similar to the one available on the iOS version. A dedicated button for the X Chat feature has also been added at the bottom-right corner, giving users quicker access to messaging capabilities within the platform.

The new X app also allows users to customise their content experience by selecting topics such as football, stocks and economy, politics, and sports. These interests can be pinned at the top to create personalised timelines, while users can continue accessing the traditional “For You” and “Following” feeds.
X has requested users to share feedback and report bugs as the company continues refining the updated application. Bier acknowledged that some issues may remain and said the company plans to add more features, including Spaces hosting support and improvements aimed at enhancing performance on older Android devices.
Additional features such as Video and Video Editor tools are expected to arrive in future updates. The current version already supports functions including Cashtags and Custom Timelines. The company said the Android app rebuild took over a year to complete, with initial plans for a redesigned version first announced in August last year.
