Gold prices across major Indian cities remained in focus on Monday, October 26, as investors tracked international bullion movements amid rising crude oil prices and concerns over the US Federal Reserve's interest-rate outlook. The price of 24-carat gold ranged from ₹1,42,010 to ₹1,42,670 per 10 grams across Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Meanwhile, 22-carat gold prices also varied by city, reflecting differences in local market quotations. Silver prices ranged from ₹1,95,900 to ₹1,96,810 per kilogram in these markets. According to the latest city-wise rates, 24-carat gold was priced at ₹1,42,250 per 10 grams in Mumbai, while Delhi recorded a rate of ₹1,42,010. Chennai had the highest quoted price among the six cities at ₹1,42,670 per 10 grams. Kolkata's rate stood at ₹1,42,070, Bengaluru's at ₹1,42,370 and Hyderabad's at ₹1,42,480.
The differences underline why buyers should check the prevailing rate in their city before purchasing gold. These figures are indicative market prices and may change as domestic and international trading conditions evolve. The rates for 22-carat gold showed a similar variation across the country. Mumbai recorded ₹1,30,396 per 10 grams, while Delhi's price stood at ₹1,30,176. In Chennai, 22-carat gold was priced at ₹1,30,781, the highest among the six cities listed. Kolkata recorded ₹1,30,231, Bengaluru stood at ₹1,30,506 and Hyderabad reported ₹1,30,607 per 10 grams. Twenty-two-carat gold is commonly used to make jewellery because it contains a higher proportion of alloyed metals than 24-carat gold, which has a greater level of purity. The final retail price can also vary depending on the jeweller and the design of the item.
Gold prices have recently faced pressure from developments in the global energy market and expectations surrounding US monetary policy. Rising crude oil prices have heightened concerns about inflation, prompting market participants to assess whether the Federal Reserve could raise interest rates at an upcoming policy meeting. Higher interest rates can make gold less attractive relative to assets that generate interest income, as gold itself does not pay a regular return. These expectations can influence investment demand and contribute to fluctuations in international bullion prices. However, gold prices are affected by several factors, including currency movements, geopolitical developments, central-bank decisions and changes in demand for safe-haven assets.

Domestic market movements on October 23 reflected the pressure on precious metals. Gold prices on the Multi Commodity Exchange fell by around 0.9% during the session to ₹1,42,024 per 10 grams. Silver recorded a sharper decline, losing approximately 2% to settle at ₹1,95,719 per kilogram. In early international trading on October 26, Comex gold was down around 0.12% at $4,002.90 per ounce, while Comex silver slipped approximately 0.16% to $54.035 per ounce. The international prices provided another indication of cautious sentiment among traders as they evaluated inflation risks and the likely direction of interest rates. These market quotations represent specific trading snapshots and should not be confused with final retail prices in India.
Silver prices across the six cities also showed a modest range. Delhi recorded ₹1,95,900 per kilogram, while Kolkata's rate stood at ₹1,95,980. Mumbai reported ₹1,96,240, and Bengaluru's price was ₹1,96,400 per kilogram. Hyderabad recorded ₹1,96,550, while Chennai had the highest quoted rate at ₹1,96,810 per kilogram. Consumers planning to buy gold or silver should confirm the latest local prices before completing a transaction. The amount paid for jewellery may be higher than the quoted metal rate because making charges and applicable Goods and Services Tax can add to the bill. Comparing prices across jewellers and checking purity details can help buyers make informed purchasing decisions as precious-metal markets remain sensitive to global economic developments.
